Wild Spruce Resin Salve

So many uses in one simple salve!....A must-have all-purpose remedy for any first-aid kit or herbal medicine cabinet. With wild-harvested sap from two varieties of Spruce, this divinely aromatic salve will undoubtedly remind you of our Canadian forests. Spruce sap has potent anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, analgesic and disinfectant properties. Our salve combines the beneficial properties of both White (Picea Glauca) and Black (Picea Mariana) Spruce resin, with the skin-calming properties of solar-infused Calendula Flowers.

Originally crafted by First Nations of Canada's northern Boreal forest, who historically mixed spruce resin with an animal fat to make a salve to apply to sores, infections, insect bites, boils chapped hands, scratches and cuts. Spruce sap was traditionally used for healing inflammation, skin injuries, wounds, burns and rashes, and for stimulating sore muscles.

The sap used in our salve is hand-harvested in Alberta's northern Boreal forest in small batches, year-round (winter being the best as the sap is no longer sticky!) Only the excess resin that has dripped onto the bark, below the damaged area/wound, is harvested, as the resin performs valuable protective functions for the tree. The resin is then heat extracted in extra virgin Olive oil and processed over a period of 6-9 hours, strained, and combined with solar-infused Calendula flower oil and organic Alberta beeswax.

Essential Oil free. Safe for babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. Loved by all men with beards! Amazing on chapped winter hands and cheeks. Can be used on a variety of skin conditions and doubles as a baby diaper balm.

Directions: Apply topically to protect and heal scrapes and wounds, rub on sore muscles or painful joints, and apply on the chest/back as decongestant for babies and kids during cold/flu season. Use as often as needed.
